Frank Elliot had been suffering for many years from Ankylosing Spondylitis - a condition caused by inflammation of the vertebrae which tends to run an inexorable course, leading in the end to abnormal bone fusion of the vertebrae and complete fixation of the spine. Before he came to Sifu, the entire length of his vertebrae was practically fused together, with no spinal movement, and he felt constant pain for which he was given progressively stronger and stronger drugs. He had this to say about his Qigong treatment:
