Buddhist Medicine - Healing Accounts

Barbara Martin runs an international wholesale operation for the import and export of exotic flowers from Trinidad. She first contacted Sifu Yeung to arrange treatment for her brother who was suffering from a life-long migraine problem, and was about to undergo an imminent prostate operation in Trinidad. Both problems have since been satisfactory resolved by Sifu Yeung.

"I contacted Sifu Yeung in May 1994 requesting help for my niece's two year old boy Kaz, who lived in Trinidad. Kaz first took ill with tummy pains on Saturday 2nd April which caused considerable swelling in the abdomen. He was operated on the following day for a blocked intestine. Part of the intestine was removed. During the week, the pain and swelling returned and he was operated on again for adhesions. Three days after the operation, there was sufficient progress for him to go home. The following day, he started to eat but the wound re-opened. He was immediately re-admitted to hospital.

On Sunday the 17th April, Kaz was sent to a hospital in Miami which specialised in Paediatric Medicine where he was started on more antibiotics. A CT scan the following day showed that his anastomosis (where his small bowel had been rejoined) was in fact leaking and there was fluid in his abdominal cavity. The doctors decided to operate immediately. One litre of pus and bowel fluid was drained and Kaz spent the next few days in intensive care. He was given water for the first time on Thursday 21st April but in the evening, a slight swelling in the stomach appeared. After a bad night, he was put back on morphine. With the amount of inflammation present and the fact that the infection from his abdomen had entered his blood, Kaz's ordeal was far from over. Despite several operations and more blood transfusion, the hospital failed to make much progress. It was then that I contacted Sifu Yeung requesting his help.

Within a few days of Sifu Yeung agreeing to take on the case, Kaz's condition had drastically improved. The doctors at the hospital commented that: "There was something there in the sudden healing that they could not understand".
