Reflection On Being A Student
Of Lama Dondrup Dorje

“Infinite Breath of Aeons, Wisdom of Ages you breathe, and the Shadow of Your Passing changes our Lives.

To a Dancing Wu Li Master who is all these three images and more; of animal instincts that merge and change and merge: I read a book once called ”The Dancing Wu Li Master". It was about the parallels of the "new modern" physics of Einstein, with ancient Eastern mysticism that dates back thousands of years. The book was about physics "Wu Li" which can be translated as "Patterns of Organic Energy". I think you are a dancer of these patterns of organic energy. Everything, inanimate or animate, has structure, form; everything is comprised of patterns of molecules, and the pattern of molecules makes things what they are; whether a tree, water or a human being - But in essence, the single atom, the single molecule is the same. What is a tree? Wood. What is wood? Fibre. What is fibre? Cells. What are cells? etc, etc... It seems that in Qigong we can sense these single dancing cells and become one of them. That is the harmony of all things.

"The moon's the same old moon

The flowers exactly as they were.

Yet I've become the 'thingness'

Of all the things I see."

- Zen Haiku

Quoting from Dancing Wu Li Masters:

"A Master teaches essence. When the essence is perceived he teaches what is necessary to expand the perception. The Wu Li Master does not speak of gravity until the student stands in wonder at the flower petal falling to the ground. He does not speak of laws until the student of his own says, "How strange! I drop two stones simultaneously, one heavy, and one light, and both of them reach the earth at the same moment!"

In this way the Master dances with his student. The Wu Li Master does not teach, but the student learns. The Wu Li Master always begins at the centre, at the heart of the matter.

"Every lesson is the first lesson. Every time we dance, we do it for the first time"

- Al Huang.

But when every lesson s the first lesson it does not mean that we forget what we already know. It means that what we are doing is alwas new, because we are always doing it for the first time.

The characteristic of a Master; whatever he does, he does it with the enthusiasm of doing it for the first time - This is the source of his unlimited energy. Every dance he dances for the first time. It is always new, personal, alive."

I see you as unique - a Dancing Wu Li Master. Where ever I go from here, I will always remember that you accepted me into your class. I appreciate that - Thank you.
