John Walker works as a corporate strategist in London. He had a keen interest in the development of human potential through internal arts for over two decades. He became a student of Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje in September 1987.

"I am interested in metaphysical matters but to limit myself to theory would be to surrender to escapism from reality. On the other hand, whilst my "will to believe" exists, blind faith in the "latest fashion" is not an automatic route to enlightenment. This interest has exposed me to various metaphysical, religious systems, which all have the above problems, with the exception of the Internal Arts as taught by Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje, who provides a satisfactory answer to theoretical requirements and what is rare in other metaphysical fields; practical expression. Sometimes when I watch Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje involved in Qigong or Taiji Quan, I am aware of a force field, that has an aura of glow around his body, which transformed Sifu's physical being into the appearance of a different presence. Equally significant I found, is an atmosphere of well-being and harmony that I have experienced in the passive presence of Sifu. I confess that I take the many manifestations of Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje as normal, "for granted", as things that naturally happen in his presence, rather than unusual miracles, which indeed they are.

One typical case, which comes straight to mind, happened at an International Chinese Internal Arts Competition. One competitor who was due to take part in a weapon sparring event sought help from Sifu for his injured wrist. He was obviously in pain when he approached Sifu who was in the middle of a discussion in Chinese with a group of Chinese teachers that included doctors and Qigong practitioners. Sifu simply asked the young man to take a seat next to him. Because of the medical expertise of the others present, I was particularly interested in their reaction - such as body language and expression. What then followed was too incredible to describe. A gentle whirl of 'heat haze' like aura began to form around Ven. Lama Dondrup Dorje who remained seated in quiet composure next to his patient. The group who had been watching intently, sighed unconsciously as the wrist of the patient could be seen shaking mildly for about half a minute, then as dramatically as it started, it settled down; all sign of tension and pain disappeared; colour came back to his face. Sifu then indicated that the treatment was over - the whole process took no more than one and a half minutes. The young competitor's wrist had regained its functionality, and he was able to continue with the remainder of his event. The discussion group was left in stunned silence; their eyes betrayed, without reservation, that they were in awe of the whole experience."
